Google Earth
Google Earth is one of the most interesting applications that were released in recent years, and it is worth a few minutes of our attention. This project was supported by many organizations and companies, and among them the famous National Geographic. The fruit of this amazing cooperation is an application that allows any average user to “visit” whatever area of the Earth they want and take a closer look at it. Google Earth is based mostly on the satellite images of the Earth. We can enjoy the images of historic buildings, monuments, and most interesting objects in every country or city we want. With this application, we can go on a “virtual trip” to the most interesting places in the world, and all this without actually leaving our home and spending millions on transportation and entrance tickets. Of course, not all the places are presented perfectly. In the case of some areas of the Eastern Europe, we can be presented with outdated or low-resolution images, or notice that there are no images available at all. However, we cannot deny this application its educational values. In some cases we can decide for “sightseeing” a city or a museum, or take a closer look at a monument. In such situations we are presented with three-dimensional models, which all make it look very attractive. Despite some shortcomings, Google Earth is one of the most interesting and most innovative applications available today, which is why it is worth to have it on the hard disk, because with its help we can sneak a peek at almost every area of the Earth without leaving our room.
